MTAG Composites Ltd achieved the ‘Highly Commended’ in the Innovation in Manufacturing category at the annual Lincolnshire Technology and Innovation Awards. The award recognises our active and committed participation in the Lincolnshire Robotics Forum and the Greater Lincolnshire Manufacturing Forum, involved in helping other businesses through sharing information, skills and guidance.
Our foresight to explore new technology through R&D activities including international research activities which enables us to develop advanced technology into bespoke solutions for our manufacturing needs and built on the results of testing and trials to encourage innovation in subsequent project. Specifically, the robot manufacturing cell hosts the only inverted UR10 (robot) manufacturing carbon fibre components for aerospace in the UK. Its inversion means we can maximise the cutting area available to increase its efficiency, yielding around 15% extra capacity which improves the ROI on the investment.
Praised for eliminating several Health and Safety risks such as dust exposure, hard/arm vibration, noise levels from pneumatic hand tools whilst removing human error and increasing quality and protecting our workers, the innovation has secured commitment from major suppliers in the aerospace industry securing the long-term growth of the company, supporting employment opportunities in Lincolnshire and further afield in the national supply chain whilst bringing cutting edge technology to the Lincolnshire economy.
